Our Purpose
AR NexGen's purpose is to share essential engineering lessons learned from Aerospace and Civil Engineering work experiences totaling over 80 years, and, from mentors of the previous generation. Our experience was gained at NASA, the Ohio Department of Transportation, city government, and private industry.
AR NexGen has a passion to support workforce development and teams to help enable successful engineering projects by sharing these lessons with the next generation. AR NexGen accomplishes this purpose by conducting training courses & mentoring for engineers, engineering managers, and support staff engaged in the development of complex systems, and those responsible for oversight in these areas. AR NexGen translates lessons into concrete strategies that will minimize or eliminate root causes of engineering system mishaps and near misses.
AR NexGen has provided recent training to the European Space Agency, NASA’s International Project Management (with international partners), and university personnel in the United States. The following are comments from the training experience:
• Class Instructors:
– "Very well prepared, experienced, seasoned, obvious authority on tech matters"
– "Really engaging instructors, material very well presented"
• About the class:
– "Comprehensive presentation of failure cases with explanation of root cause and lesson learned"
– "Interesting to picture the environment/spirit among the engineering teams that made certain mistakes"
• Who else would benefit:
– "My group, everyone in my group could benefit"
– "Probably every project team before kicking off"
AR NexGen provides specific advice on the “human element” and how to apply the lessons more broadly. Rules of practice to avoid mishaps are presented. Finally, a workshop on participant projects is provided to bring the lessons home.
AR NexGen also has a partnership agreement with Aerospace Engineering Associates LLC (AEA), a premier space training organization who has provided over 120 training courses to technical organizations around the world since 2007. AR NexGen has incorporated and updated the AEA two-day course titled Mission Success First: Lessons Learned. This highly rated course provides insight into space and terrestrial engineering system mishaps and near-misses, including the causes, and suggested preventative measures.
“Very useful at the right level of detail; I learned a lot in this course.””
